its completely different!! being pro life to me is keeping a child and letting it be born into the world. putting an animal to sleep is yes, killing it BUT if the animal is in extreme pain and suffering its right to do. i wouldnt let an animal suffer thats just wrong.
We are not to torture animals, nor add to their suffering. If we can be merciful to them by putting them to sleep rather than treating them and prolonging a painful existence, then certainly putting-to-sleep is OK.
Mankind falls into a different category. According to the scriptures, the care of the animals was put into Adam’s hands, and thus the task of caring for them has fallen to all of us. But we were *not* given the task of overseeing life and death decisions for other humans; that remains God’s task.
No, because they are not human. Idiots that run puppy mills produce millions of dogs per year. These mills are perfectly legal until abuse can be proven. The dogs that deliver pups are killed when they can no longer bred, and all the dogs live in cages which makes them rather feral.
Also, many dog/cat owners refuse to neuter/spay which results in millions of unwanted animals. Sometimes the best thing to do for animals in unfortunate circumstances is to put them down.
Animals and people are not the same. I am pro-life all the way for humans. We do not eat people. We eat animals. No, that hamburger you had for lunch was not made from a plant.
As far as a pet goes, I don’t know. I think it would be more humane to put the animal to sleep if it is suffering an will not live. It’s a hard decision.
Again, I want to stress – humans and pets are not the same.
Well I am pro choice, but I still think abortion is bad. (If that makes sense)
And yes I am against putting animals to sleep. I’m vegetarian. I’m also against war and the death penalty.
But some of the pro life are for the death penalty which couldn’t be any more hypocritical.
EDIT: People who say animals don’t matter have serious problems. Yes we do hold humans to a higher standard, but animals lives still matter. ALL LIFE is precious. ALL OF IT.
Euthanasia is acceptable if the pet is suffering and constantly in pain. It would be stupid not to consider putting it to sleep.
Hunting animals for food isn’t wrong at all (after all, we’ve been doing it for thousands of years), but I believe that killing animals just for fun is very wrong.
I sat with my dog Cisco at the vet’s office when he was given an injection to put him to sleep. He was 14 and the life expectancy for his breed is 9 or 10. He was in pain and could no longer stand up without assistance. I loved him and he trusted me. We spent his last minutes together as he closed his eyes and passed on. He had had a full life and his passing was peaceful.
I do no believe it is right to take the life of an unborn child. If the mother doesn’t want to deal with that child for what ever reason then let her give it so someone who does. That child has a right to fulfill its potential just as my dear Cisco did.
this is interesting im 17 and pro life and never thought about this………………im a vegitarian and against animal hunting……………. i guess if an animal is in pain, then maybe its alright but id have to resarch it?
Humans are different to animals though, and in my view always be looked after first………
Blessed Be:)
Nope…pets are just as important as humans. Cats and dogs love us unconditionally and deserve the same respect as us. I would only put an animal to sleep if they were in severe pain and did not have a chance of survival.
Certainly, for various reasons. I personally think there is a difference between killing animals and killing humans. You may not feel that way but I do.
Yes it does. Many people are gobsmacked when I tell them I uphold Catholic social teaching and animal rights. Although I am pro animal life, i just think human life deserves a little more dignity.
if your comparing murdering humans to killing animals, then theres something very wrong with you
Of course not. The very pro-life Sarah Palin just loves shooting animals.
Im not pro-life I am pro-choice…
But my pro-life views includes animals too!
I wish your mom would of been pro-choice, but this would be the only time I approve.
no. their ‘pro life’ doesn’t even include people after they’re born
i agree with the top two.
